چکیده

By JOHN LASZLO, HERBERT J. GERBER AND JOACHIM R. SOMMER T HE PURPOSE OF THIS PAPER is to describe certain similarities between globules observed in leukemic lymphocytes and globules in plasma cells referred to as Russell bodies. Demonstration of structural and chemical identity of these globules would further strengthen the concept of a transitional pathway between lymphocytes and plasma cells.’ Indeed, if normal lymphocytes can differentiate into plasma cells, then transitional stages might be anticipated during malignant lymphocytic proliferation. In the following report, an instance of subacute lymphocytic leukemia is described in which many of the lymphocytes contained cytoplasmic globules. The structure and composition of these globules is described.

The Physical Nature of the Lipid Globules in the Living Neurones of Helix aspersa as indicated by Measurements of Refractive Index

The lipid globules in the neurones of Helix aspersa have been found by Chou in 1957 to be of three distinct kinds that differ from each other in chemical composition. In the present investigation, the refractive indices of these three kinds of globule were measured by the technique for measuring the refractive indices of cytoplasmic inclusions in living cells developed by Ross in 1954, which is...

A Randomized Controlled Trial of the Effects of Supervised Aerobic Training Program on Anthropometry, Lipid Profile and Body Composition in Obese Adult Leukemic Patients

Background: The purpose of this randomized study was to examine the effects of a supervised aerobic training program on anthropometry, lipid profile and body composition of obese adult leukemia survivors. Methods: Fifty-four obese adult leukemia survivors were allocated randomly into two groups of equal number. The intervention group underwent a supervised aerobic training program for 30-40 mi...

The Cytoplasmlc Inclusions of the Neurones of Helix aspersa

1. The only cytoplasmic inclusions visible in the living neurone are lipid globules and mitochondria. 2. In both Helix and Limnaea there are three kinds of lipid globules, as follows: (a) large globules, yellowish from their carotinoid content; (6) smaller globules, easily coloured by vital dyes; (c) small globules, not colourable by vital dyes. 3. The crescents and rings ('dictyosomes') seen i...

Stimulated normal human lymphocytes contain a ribonuclease-sensitive DNA polymerase distinct from viral RNA-directed DNA polymerase.

Ribonuclease-sensitive DNA synthesis is demonstrated in a cytoplasmic particulate fraction of normal human blood lymphocytes stimulated with phytohemagglutinin, but not in unstimulated lymphocytes. DNA polymerase purified from this fraction does not transcribe the heteropolymeric regions of 70S RNA from RNA tumor viruses, thus distinguishing this enzyme from the RNA-directed DNA polymerase (rev...
